Official requirements
The 2K Support uploader article accepts JPG and PNG files and requires each image to be under 1 MB. It does not publish one mandatory portrait dimension in the checked article.
That is why this tool starts at 1024 by 1024 for a clean square working area but labels it as a tool default rather than an official rule.

What automatic compression changes
PNG does not have a simple quality slider. If the export remains over 1 MB, this tool steps down the square dimensions while preserving the composition. The final dimensions and file size are shown before download.
